SUSPECT. TONIGHT, TOM, POLICE SAY THEY BELIEVE THESE TWO ARMED ROBBERIES AND THIRD ATTEMPTED ARMED ROBBERY ARE ALL CONNECTED, BUT THEY’RE DOING MORE INVESTIGATING TO FIGURE THAT OUT. IT’S JUST ABSURD TO ME. THIS PITT STUDENT SAYS HE EATS AT LANE’S CHICKEN FINGERS ON FORBES AVENUE OFTEN. HE EASILY COULD HAVE BEEN AT THE STORE. THE MORNING IT WAS ROBBED. WHY WOULD YOU, LIKE, DO SOMETHING SO LIKE HEINOUS TO SUCH A BELOVED PLACE WITH SUCH LIKE, AMAZING PEOPLE? POLICE SAY EMPLOYEES TOLD THEM A MALE ARMED WITH AN AK 47 DEMANDED CASH BEFORE RUNNING DOWN THIS ALLEYWAY AT THE BACK OF THE BUILDING. NOW THEY’RE INVESTIGATING WHETHER IT’S CONNECTED TO TWO OTHER INCIDENTS OVER THE WEEKEND, UNIVERSITY OF PITTSBURGH POLICE RELEASED THIS SUSPECT DESCRIPTION FROM OAKLAND, A TALL MALE WITH A LIGHT RED OR PINK HOODIE, BLACK PANTS, BLACK SHOES WITH WHITE SOLES, GLASSES, GLOVES AND A TATTERED BLACK FACE MASK. THE HOODIE, PANTS AND SHOES WERE ALSO LISTED AS DESCRIPTORS OF A SUSPECT WHO WAS ARMED WITH A B-B GUN AND MADE OFF WITH CASH FROM THE TELLER STORE IN EAST LIBERTY. THAT WAS SATURDAY AFTERNOON. THE THIRD EVENT WAS EARLY FRIDAY, WHEN WORKERS AT A WENDY’S STORE ON BOMB BOULEVARD TOLD POLICE TWO ARMED MALES JUMPED OUT OF THE BUSHES AND TRIED TO GET INTO THE BUILDING. BACK IN OAKLAND, POLICE SAY THEY’RE REVIEWING ALL THE VIDEO THEY CAN. I HOPE THAT THIS DOESN’T SET LIKE ANY LIKE, EXAMPLE THAT LIKE, YOU CAN GET AWAY WITH THAT. Police in Pittsburgh said they believe two armed robberies and an attempted armed robbery from the weekend are connected, but they're investigating to determine whether that is the case.Early Friday morning, workers at a Wendy's restaurant on Baum Boulevard in Shadyside reported an attempted armed robbery. Police said one employee told them, as they brought out the trash around 2:45 a.m., two males came out of nearby bushes and tried to get into the building. The workers were able to lock the doors.Then, on Saturday morning around 12:45, police responded to Layne's Chicken Fingers on Forbes Avenue in Oakland. Employees there told police a male with an AK-47 demanded money and then ran down the alley behind the store.University of Pittsburgh Police released a description of the suspect, describing him as a tall male with a light red/pink hoodie, black pants, black shoes with white soles, glasses, gloves and a tattered black face mask. He was also wearing a bullet proof vest.City police reported another armed robbery on Saturday afternoon at the DTLR store on Penn Avenue in East Liberty. A male armed with what turned out to be a BB gun made off with an undisclosed amount of cash. He was also described as wearing a pink hoodie, black pants, and black shoes with white soles.Police have not announced any arrests.
